You may have heard the Eternal Connection broadcast on June 14th, 2020 which included a question from young listeners in Jinja, Uganda. Through Facebook, the Lord has opened a dialog over the past many months with three young men studying to be Pastors in the LCMS Seminary in that country.
Two of the men, Bagalana Isaac and Tamale Grace Selah (shown from left to right in the photo below – right), started an orphanage for abandoned and abused children in Jinja. St. Mark is looking at ways to provide food, clothing, Bibles and Catechisms and other support to these precious little ones. These basics are a constant struggle and we are asking the Lord to help us provide in this harvest on the other side of the world.
The orphanage was established to settle the street children, abandoned and neglected children who are without care. Jinja district has far too many cases of these vulnerable young ones who have ended up on the streets, neglected and abandoned by their parents.
The orphanage takes full responsibility of these children by providing medical care, food, education, clothing, bedding and shelter. We also help these children’s psychological and social needs, helping to reduce the stigma associated with living on the streets.
