No matter the service you attend, you can expect to find the same Word of God at the center and the same Jesus Christ taught and preached through all that we do. If it doesn’t serve the Gospel or at all takes attention away from Jesus…we don’t do it.
Here at St Mark we believe that worship is not about what we do for God, but about what He has done for us and what He continues to do for us as He calls us to worship, serves us with His grace and forgiveness and does His work on us through His Word and Sacraments. Worship is only worship in spirit and truth if it elevates and praises the name of Christ; not us.
From the message proclaimed by the pastor to the music that we all so much enjoy, to the liturgy upon which our worship is built and that safeguards the Truth we proclaim, it’s all about Jesus.
Martin Luther said, “Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.” And, we couldn’t agree more! We love excellent music, faithful music and music that proclaims the hope of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We have a wonderful music ministry here at St Mark that is both expressively creative and conservative in it’s message.
It doesn’t matter whether you like to listen to a 10-stringed harp, an organ, guitars and drums or a full symphonic orchestra, the music is the medium for the message that matters. The message of Jesus Christ.
CONTEMPORARY MUSIC: St Mark enjoys a state-of-the-art sanctuary complete with professional level acoustics, sound systems and excellent musicians that know how to present the contemporary genre of music in a worshipful and meaningful way. Though we have the standard guitar based worship band, you will often find cellos, flutes, organ and many other instruments contributing towards our joyful sound of praise.
TRADITIONAL MUSIC: The organ and choir remain at the heart of our traditional worship at St Mark, but that doesn’t mean those are the only beautiful sounds you will hear during service. A diverse range of instruments and musical styles bring refreshing life to the liturgy and the hymns we all know so well and love so much.
