From Jessica Dvorak:
Many of you have anxiously been asking since November if I knew where our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes went. . .well, now I do! This weekend I received a letter from Operation Christmas Child with the following information from the 2015 season:
- 11,213,010 shoebox gifts were given. About 8.8 million boxes were from the U.S. with the rest given by 10 other shoebox sending countries.
- Boxes from our area went to Mexico.
- Over 135 million shoebox gifts have been distributed in 157 different countries since 1993.
- Our Omaha area includes six counties and received 22,590 shoeboxes, surpassing our goal by about 9%!
Last year St. Mark sent 58 shoeboxes—let’s double it this year! For more information on how you can start collecting and being involved now, please see me or Helen Oldenkamp—we have some great ideas brewing! National Shoebox Collection Week is November 14-21, but it is never too late to start!
